A note from the author:
History fascinates me now, well after the teachings of school.  Funny how as a child nothing in textbooks intrigued me, yet as an adult any article or tid-bit on ancient ruins, civilizations and/or mysterious places has me feeling like a kid in a fun park eager for the wildest ride beginning with questions of:  What if...

What if the mysteries could be explained with the finding of one missing puzzle piece?  What if that piece was missing because the truth of it is far too paranormal — magical even — for us to feel comfortable with?  What if Earth's lost ancient history held horrors and wonders hinted about in myths and fairy tales?  After all, it is said that every story is started by a truth.

And that is how it began...

The Novel:

Among The Ancients

~ Introduction ~

In ancient times, the portals between Earth and Nalus were opened freely by high courts of both worlds. Technology was shared. Magic and myth were reality. The two worlds blended and the powerful put themselves in godly positions. This troubled the spirits of the universe as humans of Earth and Nalus slowly edged the true God from their lives. The spirits of nature retaliated. Storms of great magnitude swarmed both worlds, drowning entire cities and burying technology, including the technology to open dimensional portals.

These were the cleansing years.

The ancients of Nalus, a world much older than Earth, studied their histories and learned their lessons. Though through the ages most truth faded or became warped, a few remembered. Those few became the world’s council, governing its technology, people, and staying connected to nature.

Earth was left to fend for itself. Most of the mystical creatures died out within the first one thousand years. Technology was lost, yet tiny pieces remained in memories and myth. Humanity progressed, holding respect for their gods and the spirits around them. The people of Earth, being of such mixed races, some mixed from the Alarion and Nafeen of Nalus, fought for power, for continents, and for religions. They lost respect for nature and raped the natural elements of their planet in the name of progress. The spirits of nature grew angry again and disasters and storms began to brew. The human occupants of Earth remain relatively oblivious to what they are inviting into their existence yet again.

Some on Nalus hunger for power similar to that held by officials on Earth. A spirit walker exists in the Ri-Nafeen population and reports the progress and happenings of Earth. Aricin, ruler of the Ri-Nafeen, believes he can be both powerful and keep the God and nature spirits happy. He believes the Alarion people, the calm and serene rulers of Nalus are inferior and unworthy of reigning over such a great world. He reestablishes the generators of ancient times and operates them upon information from his spirit walker. Through dreams, this woman reports to him of Bryce and Ryder Kendlar, two men ordinary on Earth but with skill and knowledge quite extraordinary to the Ri-Nafeen. With their skill, Aricin is certain he can build his army strong enough to overcome the Alarion people.

Unknown to the Ri-Nafeen is the Alarion spirit walker, Kynlynthiajiera of Malajiar. A child of an Alarion High Council Member Kynthelon and Jacinta, an Earth woman trapped on Nalus in 1984, Kynlynthiajiera is not respected by Alarion people. Instead she is feared because her genetics enable her to reach into magics of bygone years. Though she has used her abilities only to protect and aid the Alarions, she must remain a recluse, a ghost in the rainforest of her home continent, Varlin: the heart of Nalus.

Kynlynthiajiera has also seen the prophesy showing Bryce and Ryder Kendlar aiding the Ri-Nafeen. She fears their skill and knowledge. Even more so the day she feels the portals open to Earth again…
